Summer Focus.

Fresh off a training camp from Park City, UT, I am heading into summer more focused and healthy than I have ever been in the past. It was really fun to return to Park City and see my friends from last summer when I was out there as well as runiting with some of my closest ski friends. The training camp was focused on building a foundation for athletic movement; this means correct technique, and more importantly, efficient body movements…no “leaking energy” as my strength coach Tschana told me. Tschana lead us through various movement progressions including running mechanics and ladder/hurdle drills. The mechanics and form we learned in the progressions transferred directly into all forms of training and all of us at the camp felt an immediate awareness and improvement!Screen Shot 2016-07-02 at 1.40.09 PMIMG_9531I was also able to get movement and strength testing done, which helps me identify what I need to work on and what I am doing well. I was glad to have regained some hope by working with my PT’s and making good progress. I am stoked to have returned home with many different things to work on and grow from. A few of things I want to focus on this summer is building a solid strength foundation, getting a really strong core in order to protect my back, and to move in most efficient way possible through various drills I learned during camp.IMG_9513IMG_9457IMG_0004IMG_1417When I returned from camp last week, I was able to spend some time hanging out at home with my parents as well as easy training at Stratton. Although it was easy week, there was a lot going on in Stratton between 4th of July weekend, a lot of coaches in town, and our social media contact from the U.S. Ski Team as well as a photographer.DSC_6576DSC_6653DSC_6439USST Roller Ski 6.30.16-2777USST PM Training 6.30.16-3420USST PM Training 6.30.16-3519USST Roller Ski 6.30.16-2697USST PM Training 6.30.16-3206-2IMG_7887I am looking forward to a bigger training block now as I settle into Stratton for the summer!P.S. This is my 1 year anniversary of my blog! I would love to hear some feedback :)DSC_6762-JKern
