Soreness.

Soreness. It is such a beautiful thing. It is such a terrible thing. It means your getting stronger. It can mean you are weak. There are two types of soreness. Good soreness is when you are slightly sore from stimulating your muscles in a way to make them stronger. Then there is bad soreness… where you are extremely sore in the wrong areas. This can happen from doing too much of an exercise, starting a new form of exercise all of the sudden, or a sign of an injury coming. In my first week at SMS, I definitely experienced some good soreness. Between getting used to the hilly terrain and adding in a few new things into my training plan, I used some muscles that I haven’t used much lately. I was really stoked to join the T2 team in double pole speeds this past week. I sure missed speeds, my favorite! I also started to stride in my classic skiing. Surprisingly, it didn’t take long to get back into it thanks to muscle memory  :)Screen Shot 2015-09-07 at 7.52.30 PMScreen Shot 2015-09-07 at 7.53.18 PMScreen Shot 2015-09-07 at 7.55.00 PMThis morning I was working on really engaging my lower core in the double pole. We started to do some exercises in the gym that focus on activating the lower core so that when we hop on our rollerskis right after, it is easier to apply the concept.Yesterday was the senior/PG outing. We headed to the Berkshires and white water rafting which was a blast. Our guide was really cool so we played a ton of games since the rafting was pretty mellow. Sadly, I have no photos or video because I was busy enjoying it!Next week I am off to Lake Placid for a training camp!IMG_4678IMG_4684IMG_4685IMG_4687IMG_4697IMG_4699IMG_4714-JKern
